Mastering

Mastering is a technique in which deficiencies from the mixing process are corrected. It is also applied to get a number of tracks to sound similar and minimize individual differences, for instance when they are released as an album or EP.

With the music industry in its current recession, many underground labels try to survive by cutting in costs. With large mastering studios easily charging hundreds of dollars, artists these days are more often than not required to master their own releases. Unfortunately this has lead to a huge individual difference in sound quality between labels and artists.

I have mastered for a large number of clients over the years, and am still in charge of sound quality for a variety of labels. Because I am very aware of the costs and expenses digital labels have these days, I try to be as competitive as possible in price range in order to make professional mastering services available for underground labels with a tighter budget as well.

Examples

Below you will find short clips of tracks I have mastered for a variety of clients. During playback the track will skip between unmastered and mastered material. Some tracks are in need of extensive processing, such as example 1 and 3. Others need only minor adjustments such as example 2 and 4. Please keep in mind these are all MP3 files instead of high quality WAV files.
